Safran Transmission Systems is supporting the Ambition Campus association as part of the Participative Innovation initiative

Last January, Safran Transmission Systems presented the Ambition Campus association – which works to combat educational inequality and to promote equal opportunities – with a cheque for 3,826 euros. Haroun Bouakkaz, Participative Innovation Manager at Safran Transmission Systems, looks back at our company’s commitment as part of its work to encourage progress.
Ambition Campus

Founded in May 2007 by former students from Sciences Po, the association Ambition Campus seeks to help high school students from Priority Education Zones (PEZs) to join sectors of excellence. It operates based on a "win-win" principle. In practice, Ambition Campus puts students from graduate schools in contact with high school students in the PEZs who are looking to go on to higher education. Once they have been twinned with a high school student, each of the graduate school students uses their talents and skills to help the high school students find the pathway best suited to their needs as well as helping them benefit from their network of contacts and supporting them with entrance exams. In return, the high school students allow their mentors to benefit from one of their talents.

Ambition Campus is involved in numerous initiatives aimed at showing high school students in the PEZs that anyone can succeed. The most recent of these is the creation of a careers guidance podcast known as "Trace ta route" (Find your own way forward). This includes feedback from students or young workers, along with practical academic or vocational guidance advice.

"This is a project and an association that we decided to support" explained Haroun Bouakkaz, Participative Innovation Manager at Safran Transmission Systems. How? Through the use of Participative Innovation. "At Safran Transmission Systems, we attach as much importance to this as we do to technological innovation", added Haroun Bouakkaz. "As well as enabling everyone to receive recognition for their initiatives regardless of their position in the company, it's also a source of efficiency and productivity. And therefore of growth". And because solidarity is part of Safran Transmission Systems' life blood, "just as we have done for several years now, we wanted to let an association benefit from some of the gains achieved through this approach".

"A popular choice with everyone!"

With this in mind, a vote was organised within the company. Each employee was invited to propose an association linked to education, our chosen theme this year. For his part, Haroun was the advocate for the proposal to support Ambition Campus. A proposal which proved successful, as ultimately it was this association which was chosen.

During a ceremony organised last December, the association was awarded a cheque for 3,826 euros. "Creation of a dedicated website, purchasing equipment, etc.... Among other projects, this will enable them to take the podcast creation project forward" explained Haroun Bouakkaz enthusiastically. Before adding: "I am very pleased to have been able to help them". A view which is echoed by the whole of Safran Transmission Systems. The company is very proud to be able to support Ambition Campus, which fights inequality on a daily basis by helping disadvantaged high school students to achieve excellence.
