Cornerstone ceremony celebrates the construction of the new Hispano-Suiza Polska plant in Podkarpackie

Hispano-Suiza Polska, the Polish subsidiary of Hispano-Suiza (Safran), has started the construction of a second plant to bolster Safran production capacity. A symbolic cornerstone ceremony was held today in presence of Hélène Moreau-Leroy, CEO of Hispano-Suiza, Jan Sawicki, President and CEO of Hispano-Suiza Polska, Pierre Buhler, French Ambassador in Poland, and Maria Kurowska, Deputy Marshal of Podkarpackie Province.

The new facility will produce components and subassemblies for the state-of-the-art LEAP engine from CFM international, a joint company between Snecma (Safran) and GE. This next-generation engine, successor to the best-selling CFM56, will power the new generation of single-aisle jets shortly to be introduced by Airbus, Boeing and Comac (China).

Started in last January, the new production plant will be located near the Hispano-Suiza Polska plant in Sędziszów. Completion of the construction work is planned in the first quarter of next year, with production starting in April 2017.

Within the next few years, Hispano-Suiza Polska plans to recruit more than 300 people and is looking for process engineers, quality inspectors or machine operators for its new facility.

"This new plant is the symbol of Safran and Hispano-Suiza's commitment to meet growing demand in the aerospace market. Thanks to the mechanical expertise and qualified workforce of the Podkarpackie region, we will be able to contribute to the success of the LEAP programme, the best-selling engine under development in history." says Hélène Moreau-Leroy.
