First flight of the EC175 helicopter, equipped by Hispano-Suiza !
Eurocopter's EC175 helicopter, developed and produced with AVIC II of China, made its first flight on Thursday, December 17 at Marignane in southern France. It is fitted with key components by Hispano-Suiza.
Within the scope of its partnership with Eurocopter on mechanical geartrains, Hispano-Suiza engineers and produces the accessory gearboxes (AGB) for the main gearbox on the EC175. The complete assembly comprises two AGBs, right and left, which take up the engine power delivered by the main gearbox, and distribute it to drive various components: alternator, hydraulic pump, air compressor, backup pump, fan.
The next major milestones for the EC175 will be certification by the European Aviation Safety Agency (EASA) in 2011, then by the Civil Aviation Administration of China (CAAC) in 2012. First deliveries of production models are also slated for 2012.
