Power Optimised Aircraft (POA) participants visit Hispano-Suiza Aircraft Systems Validation Rig

During the annual meeting of the Power Optimised Aircraft project at Marne-La-Vallée, 50 representatives of companies participating in the POA consortium visited the Hispano-Suiza Aircraft Systems Validation Rig (ASVR) in Colombes. Members of the project steering committee - Airbus, Alenia, Liebherr Aerospace, Thales AES, Rolls-Royce, Snecma and Hispano-Suiza - along with the European Commission's scientific officer's team, had an opportunity to assess the progress of integration tests for the different equipment on the Hispano-Suiza platform.

The series of tests planned for 2006 will take place on the three POA program platforms: Hispano-Suiza's Aircraft Systems Validation Rig, the Rolls-Royce engine test cell in Madrid (equipped with the Hispano-Suiza electrical fuel pumping and metering system )and the Virtual Iron Bird simulation and optimization tool developed by German aerospace research agency DLR.
