Hispano-Suiza wins Full Authority Digital Engine Control (FADEC) for Eclipse 500TMjet

Peterborough, Canada, February, 1st 2004

Eclipse Aviation CorporationTM, manufacturer of the twin-engine Eclipse 500TM jet, has selected Hispano-Suiza Full Authority Digital Engine Control (FADEC) to control and monitor the Pratt & Whitney Canada PW610F turbofan engine.

The PW610F electronic engine control system is based on an Hispano-Suiza dual-channel, dual redundant architecture. Its modular design with open architecture and the combination of the Operating System and the Application Program has facilitated its quick development. This advanced electronic engine control will provide the operators with optimum value and performance with outstanding reliability.

EclipseTM Aviation will benefit from Hispano-Suiza's design and development work on the FADEC for the PW615F turbofan engine that will have 1,350-pounds of thrust and will be used on the Cessna Mustang.

For Hispano-Suiza, this new application is an important strategic win as it brings Hispano-Suiza field-proven engine control experience a breakthrough in the very light jet market, said Pascal Sénéchal, Chairman and CEO of Hispano-Suiza.

The Hispano-Suiza FADECs are benefiting from 40 years of experience on electronic engine controls for military and commercial engines, including CFM56 series, and CF6 and GE90 series.

The PW610F engine selected for the Eclipse 500 is a medium bypass turbofan flat rated at 900lbf of takeoff thrust at sea level up to 77°F and is part of Pratt & Whitney Canada PW600 series of engines which span the 900 to 3,000 pound thrust range, started with the PW625, a 2500 lbf thrust demonstrator engine. The PW610F engine certification is scheduled for the first quarter of 2006.
